Reflexology - Complementary therapy treatment
Details of the reflexology treatments that we can provide are listed below. We also offer a range of treatment packages combining some of our most popular beauty & complementary therapies.
Reflexology
Works on the principle that reflex points on the surfaces of the feet are connected to corresponding areas of the body. The Reflexologist gently applies firm pressure to these reflex points using specialist thumb and finger techniques which stimulate the nerve endings embedded in the feet that travel to the spinal cord and then to various body systems.
The Reflexologist will be able to feel areas of congestion or discomfort through crystal deposits in the foot which will be mirrored in another related area of the body, treating these areas within the foot will break down the crystals which are absorbed by the lymphatic system and then eliminated from the body, inducing relaxation, releasing blocked energy and helping to balance the body promoting mental and physical well being.
Benefits of Reflexology include:
- Promote relaxation
- Improves the blood and lymphatic circulation
- Aids the body's healing process
- Relief of muscular aches and pains
- Reduces stress
- Helps to alleviate pain associated with tension headaches, back pain etc.
- Hormone balancing

Maternity Reflexology
Reflexology can be used from conception to after birth benefiting both mother and baby.
Conception
Women who seek reflexology to help with fertility and conception generally find pregnancy results within 6 months of treatment according to data recorded by Reflexology organisations.
Pregnancy
Is safe to have during trimester 2 & 3 providing there are no medical contra-indications present. Reflexology can be highly beneficial during pregnancy helping to prevent or alleviate physical, physiological and emotional conditions normally associated with pregnancy. Women who have regular reflexology throughout their pregnancy usually have a reduced labour period and benefit from many of the following:
- Relaxation - physical and emotional
- Relief from stress and anxiety
- Relief from headaches, backache and heart burn
- Relief from nausea and vomiting
- Relief from constipation
- Reduction in swelling of ankles
- Improved sleep pattern
Labour
Reflexology may induce labour if the baby is late and ready. Reflexology releases the hormones required for labour, e.g. oxytocin which stimulates the dilation of the cervix during labour. If the woman is relaxed then labour will be shorter in duration creating a more positive experience for both mother and baby.
After birth
Reflexology can benefit mothers following delivery in the following ways:
- Uterus returns to normal size quicker
- Balances hormone levels
- Post natal depression is less likely to occur
- Boosts energy levels
- Assists in lactation
- Reduces aches and pains
- Relief from constipation
- Stimulates the immune system
- Reduces anxiety and stress
- Induces relaxation
