Time: 10am to 4pm or 9.30am to 3.30pm
Tuition cost: £150 per day

Manicure/Pedicure kit - supplier will be recommended for you to purchase directly from. Cost approx. £110.

* This course is suitable for someone wanting to start a career in the beauty therapy industry. Training dates are flexible to fit around family commitments and training days are recommended with intervals between them to allow candidate to develop skills in between each session to gain the most from tuition.

Tuition is either one to one or one to two and therefore students are able to learn at a faster pace due to the level of support and commitment from tutor.

Day 1 - Introduction to course: Health and safety, setting up work area, consultation techniques, practical skills for pedicure developed working on clients.

Day 2 - Pedicure practical skills: Developed working on clients plus relevant theory.

Day 3 - Remedial foot and nail treatments: Developed working on clients plus anatomy and physiology theory.

Day 4 - Review of skills development: Through practical observations/assessments, action planning and theory.

* On completion of self study, work books & case studies etc. students will return for day 5.

Day 5 - Summative/final practical and written exams/assessments
* Candidates are required to bring own models for assessments.

Course Syllabus

  • Use and effective methods of working when providing pedicure services, consult, plan and preparation for pedicure services
  • Carry out a range of practical nail services using a variety of tools, products and nail finishes. French, dark and buffing included.
  • Understand organisational and legal requirements and how to work safely and effectively when providing nail services
  • Contra-indication and contra-actions
  • Theory of anatomy & physiology, includes structure of the skin and nail unit, nail growth, skin types, bones, muscles, blood circulation of the hand, arm, leg and foot
  • Provide aftercare advice
  • Oral and written questions
  • Home case studies to develop skills further, workbooks are completed as self-study at home to reinforce learning
  • Candidates wishing to achieve this qualification will need to build a portfolio of evidence containing written, practical assessments, assignments, workbooks & all other relevant underpinning knowledge and written paper to be submitted to awarding body examiner following initial training course

If an additional assessment day required a fee of £75 for 3-4 hours will be applicable
* Candidates may progress on completion of this course to either another level 2 unit of nail services or beauty therapy e.g. Provide and maintain nail enhancements (artificial nails) or provide facial skin care treatment, carry out waxing services or enhance the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes and transfer skills and knowledge from this course (see VTCT courses for further details).
* All candidates would be required to purchase a uniform to meet health and safety requirements & text book to help them with theory.
