This course is suitable for someone wanting to start a career in beauty therapy. Course comprises of theory and practical tuition along with workbooks completed as home study.
Day 1 - Practical skills for cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation and skin warming: Introduction to course work health and safety, setting up work area, contra-indications, consultation and practical skills.
Day 2 - Practical skills for facial massage and mask application: Theory of massage techniques and mask, post treatment advice and contra-actions.
Day 3: Review of skills development through practical observation/formative assessment and oral questioning, theory of anatomy and physiology and action planning.
On completion of self study work books & case studies etc. students will return for practical and written assessments/exams and submission of portfolio with work book and case studies.
Day 4 - Summative/final practical and written exams/assessments
* Candidates are required to bring own models for assessments.

- Preparation of therapist, tools, work area and client
- Equipment and products
- Consultation/record cards
- Contra-indications and contra-actions
- Theory of benefits & effects of facials
- Theory of skin analysis
- Theory of face masks
- Theory of massage mediums and effects and benefits of massage
- Anatomy & physiology: function & structure of the skin, skeletal, muscular structure of the face, neck and shoulders, blood and lymphatic systems, skin types, disorders and diseases
- Practical facial techniques, cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation, skin warming techniques, toning moisturising, massage of the face, neck and shoulders and apply an appropriate mask
- Post treatment advice
- Case studies
- Written and practical examinations
- Compile a portfolio of evidence, workbooks are completed as self study at home to reinforce learning
- Candidates wishing to achieve this qualification will need to build a portfolio of evidence containing written, practical assessments, assignments, workbooks & all other relevant underpinning knowledge and written paper to be submitted to awarding body examiner following initial training course
If an additional assessment day required a fee of £50 for 3 hours or £70 for 4 hours will be applicable
* Candidates may progress on completion of this course to either another level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments or an NVQ unit of beauty therapy and transfer skills and knowledge from this course (see VTCT courses for further details).
* All candidates would be required to purchase a uniform to meet health and safety requirements & text book to help them with theory.
